6 And I saw the heavens open, and the Lamb of God descending out of heaven; and he came down and showed himself unto them.
The vision Nephi saw of the coming of the Lord seems to be pretty accurate as to what is recorded in 3 Nephi. That brings up another question to me, namely, what is a vision? Time is really strange to think about in terms of eternity, but it’s interesting to think about sometimes. For example, did Nephi see a possible future event? Did he witness the Savior’s coming as it was actually happening (remember that time is linear to us, but not to God)? If so, was he transported to the future, or was this future event projected back to him? Or is everything really happening at the same time, just in different spheres? I know these questions aren’t all that important right now, and they certainly are not the point of this verse. It is just something I wonder about sometimes. Here are some cross references that have more to do with the testimony of Christ’s appearance to the future generations of Lehi’s children, which is really closer to what the verse is about.
