9 And I, Nephi, and my brethren took our journey in the wilderness, with our tents, to go up to the land of Jerusalem.Give credit where credit is due. As much as Laman and Lemuel murmured about going, they went on this journey anyway. As noted in verse 6, they would have done better to go willingly, but at least they obeyed their father, even if they weren’t obeying the Lord.

It makes me think that we really need to be diligent. Yes Lamen and Lemuel obeyed their father and that is good. They weren't happy and they murmered, but they were there becuase they were told to be. It kindof shows me that alot of us are like Lamen and Lemuel more often then maybe we want to admit. How often do we do something because we are told to, we don't really want to, and we may not verbally murmmer, but inside we complain. That is the same is it not. Lamen and Lemuel did what they were told, but they didn't learn for themselves why it was so improtant. Nephi may not have been thrilled about going back to Jeruselm, but he did it because not only did his Father and Heavenly Father ask him too, but I think that maybe he prayed to know the importance of it. That can make a big difference when we are given assignment in church or whatever.
In light of that comment, it sounds like D&C 58:26–29 would be a good cross reference for this whole episode, doesn't it.
