2 And it came to pass that I beheld my brethren, and they were disputing one with another concerning the things which my father had spoken unto them.
It must have been pretty tough for Nephi to come home after such a great spiritual experience and see his brothers arguing about the very subject of his experience. How can two different responses come from the same experience? Of course, the answer is found in the spiritual preparation, or lack thereof. And a major part of that has to do with humility. Apparently Nephi didn’t understand Lehi’s vision, so he sought the Lord and got an answer. His brethren didn’t understand either, but they chose to argue and try to get it based on their own reasoning. You can only understand spiritual things by the Spirit.
